Karnataka Tourist Destinations

BANGALORE
Known as the Garden City because of its many beautiful gardens and parks. The Nandi hill in Bangalore is not to be missed by the pious. Bangalore city has a number of tourist places. Apart from the numerous gardens, it also has some historical sites and other places of interest.

MYSORE
Mysore is a vibrant city teeming with tourists and visitors. It is known the world over for its exotic sandalwood and rich silks. Its grand and imposing palaces, majestic temples, gardens leave an ever-lasting impression on the visitor.

BIDAR
Bidar is an important historical town. It witnessed many vicissitudes in its eventful history. A number of historical monuments dating back to 15th century can be found here. These monuments reflect the glory of the Bahamani rulers. Apart from history, the cool and refreshing environment of Bidar attracts travelers.

GULBARGA
The main tourist attractions in the town of Gulbarga are the monuments belonging to the erstwhile Bahamani rulers. Gulbarga fort is an important tourist spot. This fort has 15 towers. Though the fort is in ruins, it still reflects some of its past glory.

HASSAN
Hassan is tranquil little town in the south India state of Karnataka. This quiet picturesque town is an ideal base to visit Shravanabelagola, Belur and Halebid. Hassan has recently become a tourist destination for its unique style of architecture. Tourists stay at this small town to visit the nearby travel destinations of Belur and Halebid famous for their antique temples

HUBLI
The historic town of Hubli was formerly known as Raya Hubli and also as Elaya Puravada Halli. It was during the reign of the Vijaynagara Empire that Hubli transformed into an important cotton and iron trade center.

MANGALORE
Mangalore tourism offers a wide range of opportunities to the tourists to travel across the various tourist destinations of Mangalore. Nestled amidst the Western Ghats, Mangalore has got a large number of important tourist sites. People from various places visit Mangalore to be a part of these places.

BIJAPUR
Bijapur is known for its medieval monuments, which are a unique form of Islamic architecture. The magnificent Gol Gumbaz is the main attraction of this city. It is the largest dome in India and the second largest in the world. Tourists are attracted to this city by the various monuments built by the Adil Shahi rulers, who ruled Bijapur between 15th and 17th century.

HAMPI
Hampi is famous for its ruins belonging to the erstwhile medieval Hindu kingdom of Vijaynagar and it is declared a World Heritage site. The temples of Hampi, its monolithic sculptures and monuments, attract the traveler because of their excellent workmanship. The Hindu style of architecture found at Hampi reflects the splendor of the Vijaynagar Empire. The rugged landscape adds to the historic ambience of this site.

COASTAL KARNATAKA
It throws open to the visitors a picture perfect world of fascinating palm-fringed beaches. The serenity and un-spoilt charm of the area, coupled with the spontaneity of the coastal folk, and their delectable cuisine is just overwhelming.
